Moving along

David

As an application of the multiplication problems, we've moved on to area of triangles.  We've gone over the history of Christmas in colonial America, and how early Americans actually banned Christmas until about the early to mid 19th century. There was a little history on checks and how it powered the financial systems of the world for well over 100 years.  We've cleaned silver and grown some green onions.  Over Thanksgiving break, he's gotten pretty good at the parallel ladder bars at the playground and can reliably get from one side to the other side.

Getting better with single digit subtraction now.  We gone over some things from "Living Long Ago," one of his favorites.  Most of the worksheets he's doing is from first grade workbooks.  He can mostly read the instructions to himself, although there are occasional issues with comprehending multiple steps of instructions.  He's actually gotten really good at cutting in a straight line.

They fight over the Usborne Encyclopedia, and I guess that's a good problem to have.
