How to Read a Multimeter

I just bought a new digital multimeter.

Today's science and engineering lesson:

1. How to read the markings an ordinary AA and AAA batteries, and figure out which end is positive and which end is negative.

2. How to use a multimeter to figure out how much voltage is left in a battery, and whether the battery is dead.
